The Kid's Therapy Center is excited to offer Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), a powerful, evidence-based approach designed to support and strengthen the parent-child bond.
Our counselors recently completed training with the developer of the CPRT model, which is rooted in Child-Centered Play Therapy. We know that one of the most common goals parents share with us is the desire to deepen connection, improve communication, and better understand their child. CPRT is designed to do exactly that.
This therapy model includes a supportive learning group for parents, facilitated by a trained therapist, alongside a weekly, structured play session between parent and child. These guided interactions help parents respond more effectively to their child’s emotional needs, rather than simply managing behaviors.
CPRT is especially effective for families with children between the ages of 3 and 10, though there are adaptations available for foster and adoptive families, parents of toddlers, and those with older children. It can be particularly helpful for families navigating:
Frequent power struggles or behavioral outbursts
Challenges with limit-setting or discipline
Strained parent-child relationships
Difficulties forming a secure emotional bond
We’re excited to offer this meaningful resource to our families. Stay tuned for upcoming CPRT group details! We can’t wait to support you on this journey of connection and growth!
