Behavior Modification Specialist
For our Behavior Skills Program
The Behavior Modification Specialist provides behavior modification strategies, skill-based support to children, adolescents, or adults to improve emotional regulation, teaching positive replacement behaviors, practice positive social functioning, and daily living skills.

Services are goal-directed, strengths-based, and designed to support treatment plans developed by licensed mental health professionals. This role is not psychotherapy. Services focus on teaching, modeling, practicing, and reinforcing skills under clinical supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver behavior modification interventions aligned with individualized service or treatment plans

Support clients with emotional regulation, coping, social skills, executive functioning, and daily living skills

Reinforce therapeutic goals established by licensed clinicians

Provide modeling through structured activities and natural interactions

Support parent and caregiver skill-building when appropriate

Maintain professional boundaries and ethical conduct

Accurately document services, client response, and progress toward goals

Communicate regularly with supervisors and treatment team members

Participate in supervision, training, and program meetings
-
Follow all agency policies, ND Medicaid requirements, and HIPAA standards

Required Qualifications (North Dakota)
-
​Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, child development and family science, human services, marriage and family therapy, applied behavioral analysis, speech pathology, therapeutic recreation, occupational therapy, behavioral health, or communication disorders.
OR
-
A bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields and two years of work experience in the respective discipline.

Experience working with children, families, or adults in behavioral health, education, or social services preferred
-
Ability to follow treatment plans and clinical direction

Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently

Ability to pass required background checks
​Training & Supervision

Initial onboarding and training is provided

Ongoing clinical supervision is provided
-
Required training may include trauma-informed care, behavior management, documentation standards, boundaries, and safety

Work Environment & Schedule

Services may be provided in clinic or school settings

Flexible scheduling based on client needs, primary work weekday hours

Part-time or full-time positions available

Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and program requirements. Our hourly rate is $23-$27 per hour. We are an agency that provides generous education and support for growth.

Behavior Modification Specialists provide behavior modification instruction and support, not counseling or therapy, and operate within their defined scope of practice.
