MindMap is a genetics-based insight tool that helps families understand why mental health, behavior, focus, and emotions look the way they do - and what can be done to support them.
It looks at how neurotransmitter pathways and key body systems are wired and how lifestyle, nutrition, and targeted support can help them work more smoothly. It’s a powerful way to bring clarity, hope, and direction to your child’s care — and remind families that genetics are a roadmap, not a life sentence.

Deeper Explanation: What Is MindMap?

MindMap is a personalized genetic insight process designed to help individuals and families better understand the biological foundations behind mood, focus, motivation, stress response, and emotional regulation.

Using DNA data from an AncestryDNA test, MindMap reviews how specific genes involved in mental health and nervous system function are working together. Instead of looking at genes in isolation, this approach examines biochemical pathways - showing how genes interact, where systems may be running fast or slow, and how those patterns can influence behavior and emotional regulation.

Genetics do not determine outcomes on their own. They act more like a roadmap, showing tendencies and areas that may need more support. Lifestyle factors such as nutrition, stress, sleep, and environment can significantly influence how these genes are expressed. MindMap helps families understand those connections and identify practical ways to support healthier balance.

Once genetic data is uploaded, families meet via Zoom with Dwight Franklin (in collaboration with The Kid's Therapy Center). We then walk through the report in an educational, supportive way. While families may learn basic gene and pathway names, the primary focus is on:
-
What systems matter most
-
Why certain struggles make sense biologically
-
Which nutrients and lifestyle supports are most important
-
How to support the child or individual more intentionally moving forward\

After the session, families receive follow-up notes and suggestions. Additional questions can be supported via email , and optional follow-up wellness sessions are available for those who want continued guidance.

The MindMap can be used as a stand-alone tool or as a piece of a larger puzzle with other testing. It can be paired (optionally) with neurotransmitter testing to show how genetics potentially function alongside how those neurotransmitters are currently operating in the body for even stronger suggestions for support.

Pathway Insights
What Areas Does MindMap Look At?

MindMap provides insight into pathways that influence mental health and overall regulation, including:
-
Serotonin & Melatonin pathways – mood, flexibility, sleep, emotional well-being
-
Dopamine, Norepinephrine & Epinephrine pathways – focus, motivation, stress response, energy
-
Methylation & Folate pathways – nervous system regulation, detoxification, neurotransmitter balance
-
Methionine pathway – antioxidant support and detox processes
-
Biopterin pathway – neurotransmitter production and cognitive function
-
Histamine pathway – inflammation, immune response, and nervous system reactivity

These pathways are presented visually and explained in a way that helps families understand how everything fits together — without needing a science background.
FAQs
How does the MindMap process work?

You’ll first purchase an AncestryDNA kit on your own and complete the test at home. Once your results are ready, we’ll guide you step-by-step on how to securely upload that data for analysis. After the report is generated, you’ll meet via Zoom with Dwight and The Kid's Therapy Center, who will review the findings, explain what they mean, and highlight key areas to support.
What does the MindMap look at?

The MindMap focuses on genes related to mental health, neurotransmitter function, stress response, detoxification, and inflammation. It looks at how these systems work together and how nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental factors can influence them.

Is this a diagnosis or medical test?
No. MindMap does not diagnose medical or mental health conditions, predict future illness, or replace therapy or medical care. It is an educational tool designed to support understanding and informed decision-making.

Will this label my child or go on their medical record?
No. Results are private and educational. This information is not placed into a medical record and is not used to label or define a child.

Do we have to do supplements?
Support may include targeted nutrients through food, supplements, or both. Families are always given options, and choices are at your discretion. It is always suggested to discuss any changes with your medical provider.

Are there additional costs?
Yes.
-
AncestryDNA kit: typically $40–$100, depending on sales
-
Genetic pathway report: $95
-
The MindMap session and interpretation: $600
The full cost of the MindMap is typically $1300, but we have intentionally reduced the price to increase access for families during this period.

What happens after the session?
Families receive follow-up notes and suggestions. Questions can be supported via email, and optional follow-up wellness sessions are available for those who want continued guidance or deeper support.

Is this useful if we’re already in therapy?
Yes. Many families find the MindMap helps them better understand why certain approaches work (or don’t) and allows therapy, parenting strategies, nutrition, and lifestyle supports to be more targeted and effective.

Can this be done for adults?
Absolutely. While many parents pursue MindMap for their children, adults can also complete this process for themselves.
